Volunteer

We wouldn't exist without our dedicated volunteers.

Our bereavement volunteers are key to delivering our bereavement support service. We wouldn't be here without them.

You could be the person who makes a difference to someone affected by grief.

If you're interested in volunteering, why not reach out to us.

Bereavement support roles

If you’re interested in becoming a bereavement volunteer with Cruse, we run our Bereavement Support Foundation course every 12-18 months.

Everyone who works with Cruse clients needs to complete this foundation training, which is designed to develop the knowledge, skills and capacities of those who would like to support bereaved people. The course uses personal reflection and group work to develop the awareness, skills and knowledge of those taking part.

The training usually takes place over 9-10 separate days across a three month period, usually on Saturdays. All training days are mandatory. There is a small cost (around £75) for the training to cover resources and materials.

The next course which started in January 2024 is fully booked. We’ll advertise the next training programme in the local press and on our website and social media when the dates have been set. If you’d like us to contact you directly, please let us know, and we’ll add you to our contact list.

Places on the course are limited so, in the event that we are overbooked, we may need to arrange for interviews before places can be confirmed.

Administration support

If you think you’d be able to volunteer to help our busy operations support team, please let us know. We’re always looking for people who can help to keep the charity running smoothly.

Due to how busy we are, and the training and support needed, we’re looking for people who have office skills and can offer a minimum of 3 hours a week.

Other roles

If you have the skills or background to offer any other type of support, please let us know. We’re always looking for people who can help with things like fundraising, awareness, training, and many other areas.
